Monthly Report January 2023
Dear friends
January marked an exciting month witnessing scholars’ gradual growth towards success and well-being through group counselling meet and personal engagements with students. As STBD (Small Towns Big Dreams) is growing and moving ahead, our engagements are finding new meaning where through our personal engagements we are identifying areas of development and challenges and addressing the same during monthly group counseling sessions and regular WhatsApp follow-ups.
Students have been having a hard time managing “time” for both academics and extra curricular club activities, both of which are extremely important for our “all-rounder” scholars. Issues like managing a hectic schedule, academic load, sleep routine, etc. has been acting as barriers in this initial journey.
As shared in the last report as well, the focus of next few months will remain to ensure that our scholars maintain high levels of self-confidence and adopt better techniques to adjust into college rigor. Our counseling focus remains to proactively look out and address signs of withdrawal or worry.

‘Don’t stress, do your best and forget the rest.’
We understand that we are still new to this, but we are committed to evolving and learning alongside the scholars”
Feb Month was the focus month for exams. We shared critical tips on exams that helped them to get the best of themselves.
Wrap up exercise to manage their onset sleep, Pomodoro technique to manage distraction and increase focus and strategies to help in channelizing their mind chatter so that they can conserve their energy.
It was great to see scholars getting settled in dealing with their exam pressures and managing their academic calendars. It was motivating to learn that scholars going beyond academics and scaling heights in sport field too!
- Academic – Medium (Scholars are getting comfortable with academics however they need to push their scores from average to high and have some work on that front)
- Social – High (Sports activities are helping them connect with seniors)
- Emotional – Medium (Scholars still needs to work on Emotional Resilience)
Coordinator’s Note

“It has been a very hectic month, with all the scholars being occupied with their exams. We understand the stress that they were going through and as a result, we decided to minimize our engagement while focusing on evolving as their support system. We planned to connect with them through check-in calls after their exams and in the meantime, we communicated with them via chat, providing motivating pointers to boost their morale. Our primary focus is on the holistic development of scholars, and as a result, we have been providing counselling and emphasizing the importance of experience and learning.
We understand that we are still new to this, but we are committed to evolving and learning alongside the scholars”
