Monthly Report June 2023

Monthly Report June 2023

Dear friends

Welcome to the June monthly update! June proved to be another significant month for our scholars as they completed their second-semester exams, unofficially marking the end of their first year. During wellness calls, group sessions, and other interactions, scholars expressed the importance of learning strategies to combat stress, maintain a positive mindset, and adopt a healthy lifestyle during exams.

To address these concerns, our themes for this month revolved around sharing stress management techniques, aiming to reduce stress and promote academic success. We provided scholars with valuable resources and guidance to help them navigate the challenges of exams more effectively.

After the exams concluded, we were delighted to witness our scholars making the most of their breaks. Many of them dedicated their time to work on their dream projects, pursue internships, and explore new subjects such as coding, web development python etc. Additionally, they focused on their respective hobbies, took time to travel, and enjoyed the comforts of home.

We hope that this break provided our scholars with the opportunity to rejuvenate and return with even greater enthusiasm and determination. The experiences and endeavors they pursued during this time will undoubtedly contribute to their personal growth and development.

We look forward to witnessing their continued progress and success in the coming months.

Highlights

01. Monthly Group Developmental Session

As the intensity of the second semester exams increased, a follow-up session titled “From Stress to Success 2.0” was arranged to share stress management techniques.

During the session, scholars were provided with an opportunity to review and implement the techniques they had learned in the previous session. Additionally, they were introduced to new strategies such as the ABC approach for stress management, practicing gratitude, engaging in the 5-4-3-2-1 grounding activity, and more.

The session placed significant emphasis on the power of altering one’s thinking patterns, modifying behavior, and making adjustments to one’s lifestyle as effective means to combat stress.

The session received a rating of 4.5 out of 5 from our scholars.

Group Facilitator’s Note

Blazin Fernandes

The discussion on stress management during the group session elicited an overwhelmingly positive response. Scholars displayed great enthusiasm and engagement throughout the session since they were happy to be in the comfort of their homes post exam stress. They remained open to discussion and were prompt in responding.

The real-world examples and personal anecdotes shared seemed to have resonated strongly with their own experiences, making the content relatable and engaging.

Scholar’s willingness to take part in the activity and engage in peer discussion created a supportive and inclusive learning environment. Furthermore, they practiced the Gratitude statement with their peers as they looked at the brighter side of the tasks or things that didn’t work out well for them. The feedback from the session confirms: the best take away was the 5-4-3-2-1 Grounding activity.

Overall, the response was highly positive, highlighting their genuine appreciation for the insightful and stimulating session.

Coach’s Note

Second semester exams were in full swing as students navigated the pressures of exams and reflected on their study habits.

The importance of adequate sleep and managing stress became evident as some students experienced forgetfulness during exams. To address this, we organized a session on Stress Management 2.0 techniques, which will yield positive results in the upcoming semester.

June brought excitement for students as they were eagerly anticipating a much-needed break to recharge and visit their hometowns. The longing for home-cooked meals is strong, and this break offers an opportunity to reflect on their journey so far and strategize for the next.

From observation it appears that scholars’ social score is likely to be high as they engage more with peers and have meaningful conversations with seniors. However, their academic score will be low, and their emotional score Medium. This can be attributed to the pressure of end-of-semester exams and the consequences of last-minute studying.

Coordinator’s Note

In June, students were completely engrossed in their end-semester exams. They dedicated hours to their studies, prioritizing their academics with the aim of scoring well. However, as the exams ended, a wave of relief was witnessed.

They finally had the opportunity to take a breather and enjoy their well-deserved holidays with their families. Reunions filled students with laughter, joy, heartfelt conversations, and good food, by spending quality time at home. The students cherished every moment with their loved ones. This break will help them to recharge their minds and bodies, rejuvenating them for the next semester.

Also noticed a positive change in scholars that now they are able to keep a balance between their academics and other enjoyments.

We asked scholars to share about a moment from their college life that describes them best.

Here are some glimpses of what they shared:
